01. THE STORY

Some things we carry are more than everyday essentials. They become part of the journeys we take.

FORWARD brings together two craft traditions from Yunnan: handwoven textile work associated with Yao communities and embroidery associated with Bai craftsmanship. Created through the hands of different makers, the strap brings these distinct traditions together in one everyday object.

02. THE PIECE

A woven textile band forms the foundation, with hand-embroidered stitching along its edges adding texture and detail.

The combination of indigo tones, cotton and silk threads, and subtle variations in the weaving gives each strap its own character. Loose threads are intentionally left visible at both ends, preserving small traces of the weaving process.

03. CRAFT & MAKING

Each strap begins with a textile band handwoven on a traditional backstrap loom, using cotton and silk threads. Hand embroidery is then added along the edges, bringing another layer of texture to the woven surface.

The weaving and embroidery are rooted in different craft traditions, coming together through a process shaped by multiple hands.

04. LIVING WITH IT

Designed for different ways of carrying, FORWARD can be used as a phone strap, camera strap, or bag strap. It can also be attached to other small everyday objects.

Whether worn over the shoulder or carried by hand, it adds a touch of woven texture to the things you take along.

✦ Material

  • Handgewebtes Textilband
  • Handstickerei-Detail
  • Indigogefärbte Baumwoll- und Seidenfäden
  • Metallbeschläge

✦ Einzigartig
