These are works in progress—Yi embroidery from Yunnan meeting the kinetic energy of the world's biggest football stage.

A familiar face is slowly taking shape through thread, color, and countless small movements of the needle.

Icons on the Cloth

Through an official FIFA World Cup licensed collaboration, football icons such as Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappé are being translated into traditional Yi embroidery.

The works are still in progress.

A few lines become a face. Color builds slowly. A familiar expression begins to emerge.

Football moves in seconds. Embroidery takes its time.

For the Love of Neymar

Then, there is anouth Neymar.

This piece was not commissioned. It was made simply because the embroiderer who created it loves football. Using traditional Yongchang Dun embroidery, she created her own portrait of a player she admires.

An old technique. A contemporary football icon. A personal act of admiration.

Sometimes, love and a needle are enough.

When Sport Meets Craft

There is something unexpectedly natural about the connection between embroidery and sport.

Both are built through: Repetition. Practice. Precision. Patience.
