01. THE STORY

At the heart of AXIS is an eight-pointed star, set against a composition of vintage brocade and indigo textiles.

The geometric motif creates a sense of balance and outward movement, while the surrounding fabrics bring together different shades of blue, softened tones, and traces of age.

Inspired by the visual language of traditional Zhuang brocade, AXIS brings an archival textile into a new setting — from something once worn to an object for everyday living.

The eight-pointed star forms the visual center of the mat, drawing the eye inward before the surrounding indigo fabric extends the composition outward.

Vintage brocade meets softened cotton and indigo-dyed textiles, creating subtle contrasts in color, texture, and surface.

03. CRAFT & MAKING

AXIS combines a vintage Zhuang brocade panel with indigo-dyed cotton and softened cotton fabric.

The selected brocade fragment is carefully arranged with the surrounding textiles and stitched together to form a finished tea mat. The composition brings together different textile surfaces while preserving the original character of the vintage fabric.

Each piece is made from a unique section of vintage textile and is not reproduced in exactly the same way.
